  Description:
If you've hoping to find a well-bred, very gentle and naturally gaited Paso Fino with a lot of heart to carry beginners thru experienced riders on trail and in the show ring, then "Maria" just might be perfect for you ...

About Maria's Sire...
El Classico de Plebeyo has been honored  the #2 Top Producing Sire for years ranking only behind the legendary stallion, Capuchino.  He reproduces classic Pas Fino traits inherited by his influential sire, National & International Champion Classic Fino Champion, Plebeyo.  In  recognition of Plebeyo's influence on our breed, he was inducted into the Paso Fino Hall of Fame.  El Classico himself has earned many Grand National & International titles.  At the age of 17, he  won the National Champion Classic Fino Stallion title at the 2003 Grand National Show. ...a title he'd already earned in 1992, 1993 and 1994.  El Classico is known for stamping his offspring with a naturally smooth quick gait and heart.  His sons and daughters among the most prized breeding stock in our nation.  The only bloodline that El Classico shares with Resorte is Cometa (appearing once 4 generations back).

About Maria's Dam...
Pimpinela del Juncal is a direct daughter of Postin and also the sire of World Champion Classic Fino Stallion, Petrolero de Juncal.  Postin's sire was non other than the legendary Bochica.  Bochica lived in the "Golden Era", or the 1960-80's, and competed heavily against other influential legendary stallions like Resorte IV and Contrapunto.  Contrapunto was known for his beauty and powerful gait, Bochica for being the best to ride and his shorter fino stride and Resorte IV for his prepotency.  Pimpinela's bloodline is an excellent choice for breeding to today's top show stallions because it only shares one bloodline (Plumaie) with Resorte and it's five generations back.

About Maria...
Maria's bloodlines really impress most Paso Fino show enthusiasts, but her gentle willing nature combined with extraordinary heart and natural ability to gait just can't be appreciated until you see meet her in person...

I'll never forget the first time that I saw Maria, she was a 3  year old filly being ridden by a 4 year old little boy (the owner of Sunhaven Paso Fino Farm's son) while ponying another horse behind them.  Even with the best training, I knew from the first moment I saw her that she was a very special Paso Fino!

Ever since coming to live with our family, Maria's been a trusted companion for our children to ride.  She's carried our children and beginners for years as a lesson horse, on fun day events and extensively through the forest trails.  Even though she's proven herself to be gentle enough for beginner riders, she's also an excellent and exciting companion for experienced riders, too.

Maria's natural gait combined with her stamina, power and confidence help make her one of the most  versatile and capable companions I've seen.  On trail she's totally content being in any position (lead, front, or middle it makes no difference) within any size group of trail horses and excels as a lead horse.  She's always one of my first choices for riding with new or green horses because she's not bothered by anything and never bites or kicks at other horses under saddle.  She can be ridden with various bits; we use a bar bit, or jaquima, for trail riding and a higher ported bit, like a spoon, when a tighter gait is preferred.  (Please note that this mare is always tightly gaited and carries herself collected in a square frame with or without a bit.)

Maria usually comes on sight or by name, is easy to catch, lowers her head to halter, respectfully leads, ties, cross-ties, bathes, grooms (sprays included!), trims, stands quietly for the farrier, loads/trailers like a dream, is easy to deworm and tack.   She's kept current on a rotational dewormers,  farrier needs, teeth floating, vaccinations and  coggins test.

Maria resides with or family in Florida and Michigan (summers only), but also lived with us at our ranch in Montana, too.   She's a very healthy sound mare with heart and style.

We look forward to the opportunity to get to know more about you and to help you learn as much as we can about Maria...

Thank you for your interest,
Debbie Selhost
